About the Project
This is a 1967 Pontiac 455 Custom Firebird. This customer's car came to me not running and a mess. He wanted a complete reconstruction with custom modifications. A vintage air system was installed, the engine was rebuilt, and a brand new clutch and 6-speed transmission added. The interior was reconfigured for the gauges, etc. Eventually the engine was installed along with a custom, polished avco radiator. Once everything was installed and running, the car was complete. More will done to this car to the customer's request - a Heidts Pro G independent rear, a new Tremec 6-speed, a custom billet Ford nine inch wavetrac, and lastly, new custom rims and tires.
The old suspension was completely removed from the car. This body was next treated and undercoated. On this particular car, the wheel wells had minor surface rust and were treated and coated with a high quality undercoating product. All bolts and hardware were replaced with new stainless hardware. All suspension parts were assembled and installed. Additionally, new Wilwood brakes and rotors were installed. The rear suspension is a Heidts Pro-G independent suspension, all chromed or polished stainless, brakes and rotors are inboard. Also the new design parking brakes were installed. The parking brake mounting brackets were made custom to move the parking brakes to the outboard side to clear the Billet differential housing. This car is also running 18"x 9" front and 19"x 12" DUB three piece custom wheels.
This Pontiac now has a Billet 9" Ford style Differential. It also has a Wav-trac Positraction unit. This is what will transfer all the power from the 455 Pontiac EFI engine to the ground with an independent rear suspension. Through a set of 345/30/19 Nitto Invo tires. On a set of 19" x 12" custom Dub 3 piece rims, all chrome.
